I cannot express how grateful I am for my experience w/ Dr. POLETTI, JUSTIN, AMANDA and the entire Staff there. I was homebound for three years, and had consulted with 7 doctors in my area, before I met POLETTI in 2010. He is an amazing, gifted physician. I had a two day operation and had one more in 2013. His skills improved my life immensely.
My review is on the business practice of over scheduling patients and the blatant disregard for the value of their customers time. At your appointment to Southeastern Spine you will be seen by a Very qualified Neurosurgeon or his extremely qualified and wonderful bedside manor physicians assistant, but be prepared to make a day of your visit before scheduling your appointment to Southeastern Spine.
I'm in more pain now still than I was pre-surgery. I have severe muscle spasms. I begged the physicians assistant to please find out why. I was set-up for an MRI to investigate what was going on. The first MRI consisted of 5 tries. All attempts were unsuccessful due to not being able to get a clear picture due to the spasms. Proof that spasms existed. I was then set up for a MRI were I would be given a drug cocktail to force my muscles to relax in hopes of getting clear results. That didn't work either. I was then set-up to be intravenously sedated at the hospital for yet another MRI attempt. Even under that sedation the MRI was unsuccessful. I was told of the failure and broke down in tears asking the assistant to please help me find the cause and possibly a solution. I explained that these spasms are constant and that the pain was horrible. I worried that surgery didn't accomplish anything and was feeling very defeated. The physicians assistant then set-up for a nerve conduction study. Out of that I was told that I had carpel tunnel in one of my wrist and referred to a hand specialist. That didn't explain anything about the pain in my neck. It was completely ignored. I was also released from the care of Dr. Poletti's assistants and referred to pain management feeling completely hopeless and discarded. If what is occurring in my neck is just an unfortunate result of surgery then I would like to be told that. Instead multiple failed MRI results due to spasms are ignored and I'm tossed aside. I will be finding another Dr that actually cares enough to take the time to explain the surgery performed and what is currently going on within my neck that is causing me so much pain still.
Dr. Steven Poletti was a disappointment! He is arrogant & unconcerned with his patient's needs. I waited weeks to get an appointment, & once the day finally arrived, I sat in the waiting room for over an hr before getting in a room. Once there, a rushed Dr. Poletti entered my room, and treated me like I was an unintelligent-nuisance. He questioned me in a demeaning tone, & told me that I was not in pain. How can a Dr. tell me that I'm not in pain? I have never been treated so badly by any Doctor in my life! I would not return to this doctor if he was the last physician in the country! He cares NOTHING about patients, even though they have paid for that fancy 200K Porsche that he drives to work everyday. Don't pay his porsche payment for him! Go to a different doctor who actually cares.
Updated: I will like to set my prior review straight. I believe Dr Poletti is a brilliant neurosurgeon and truly wants to help people, my prior review is in regard to Southeastern Spine's business model and practice of over scheduling and over booking patience for the same time frame. I have been to Dr Poletti on five occasions. All of which required me to wait well beyond an hour and a half past my appointment scheduled start time before being brought back to be seen. 1-2 times out of 5, of waiting an hour and a half past might be justifiable. But 5 out of 5 is reflection of their business model. The last visit I had to Southeastern Spine, after the 1.5 hour past mark, I asked the receptionist how behind schedule they were today. Her reply was about an hour, I asked how many people were in front of me, she said it was hard to tell, 5 or 6? I asked her how that could be, because my appointment was already over an hour behind. She shrugged and said, he is usually running behind.
The best. I trust him 100%
Dr. Poletti was very highly recommended to me. He performed surgery on my neck almost 2 1/2 years ago. In that time I think I may have actually seen him personally 3 times and that includes the day of surgery while he was operating on me. He has his physician assistants see his patients and has not much to do with us beyond the actual operation. Often while in the waiting room a staff member would come out and say Dr. Poletti got caught up in surgery so he was running as much as 2 hours behind for his appointments. I'm not sure why that mattered because he didn't see us anyway so there really should be no excuse for wait times of 2+ hours for a scheduled appointment.
