Really love the flavor of pizza at Grimaldi's but we are going to have to quit coming here. We like the crust well-done, crispy and while every waiter /waitress assures us it will be, we've yet to get it that way.
So I came here once when it first opened a few years back and I wasn't impressed. The menu was limited and service was slack. Tonight was only my second time and the experience was worse. We were four very hungry people who came here at 7, were told a 20 minute wait and this 18inch bubbly piece of cardboard didn't get to our table until 8:40. Service was very slow and pizza was awful. Don't waste your money here.
My wife, daughter and I arrived at Grimaldi's on 12/26/17 at 7:30 pm. They were busy but no one was waiting and we were seated immediately at a table in the bar area. Ordered 3 small pizza's immediately and one hour later at 8:30, as tables around us were being vacated, I tried to find the waiter, who had been working behind the bar. After I flagged him down and inquired as to the status of the food he said he would check. he came back a few minutes later and advised that it would be a few more minutes. I asked how long and he was unable to advise us. asked to see the manager who never showed up at the table. The waiter advised that the manager said he would comp the food. I was not looking for free food, but a semi accurate estimate of how much longer it would be. The waiter went back to inquire and then came back at 8:40 and advised it would be another 20 to 30 minutes. I asked to see the manager a second time and Theodore showed up at 8:45. Theodore (the manager) either did not know how to fix the problem or did not care to as that was his attitude. He tried to explain that their take out business was busy. Apparently they prioritize those customers who call in over those who are actually sitting in the restaurant. We got no satisfaction and ended up leaving having not eaten. At no time did the incompetent waiter come and check on us, nor were we offered any pleasantries such as "I am sorry and will check on your food..." If you want terrible service this is your place! Had been a long time customer but that was the last time that they will see my business. Too many other places to eat where you can be treated better.
Again and again
Food is outstanding! Atmosphere is always comfortable both inside and out. Background music (Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and other classic artists) compliments your dining experience. Employees/staff are a joy and exhibit a pleasing and professional attitude in making Grimaldi's, Mt.Pleasant, S.C. hands down our TOP pick for Authentic Brooklyn-Style real coal oven fired pizza!!
Management is great and they will take the pizza off the bill but I'd rather get the pizza the way I like it and pay for it than get a free mediocre pizza.
We were told it was because we ordered green pepper on it. So we stopped that. We were told the larger pizzas are hard to get crisp so now we order the smallest pizza they make and again it was soggy.
So...if you work in the kitchen at a Grimaldi's and the ticket says crispy please make it that way. You will save your company a lot of money because customers will actually pay for their pizzas, the manager won't have to come out and apologize, and your customers will actually enjoy their dinner.
Our waiter took our trading in stride and he is a lovely young man. Also the food was outstanding which means we will be back
