Spotted lots of awesome wildlife, even a mink! Some beautiful rustic scenerary too as well as some fun slaloms and shortcuts with Dallas! We left wanting to return almost right away (and we will).
We took the Bulls Island Beach Drop tour on the day of the Great American Eclipse. Captain Will was a great host, very knowledgeable and hands on throughout the trip to the island. We saw dolphins and rare birds, found beautiful huge seashells, swam in the ocean, and saw the eclipse! An amazing and memorable family adventure! The only suggestion I have is for an onboard microphone or speaker system to make it easier to hear, but the crowd was much larger than normal on the day we went, I assume.
Tip: Hat and sunscreen are mandatory if you ask me. And when they give you a water-tight pouch for your phone, use it! Don't accidentally drop your phone in two inches of salt water like I did.
Loved the short open air ferry ride with the educational narrative. Our guides were very well informed and shared some great insights. Island was fantastic - private beach and great walking tours to see alligators and so many birds. Was a wonderful way to spend the day. I highly recommend it! Note to travelers - bring lots of water with you and pack a good lunch, as it is pure nature when you get on the island.
Coastal Expeditions is a top notch guide and rental service. Our guides, Olivia and Greg will give you everything you need to make your journey a pleasurable one, including the knowledge on using your gear to the nature that you will experience along the way. I would highly recommend the trip to Bulls Island with these two guides to any outdoor enthusiasts. I been on a lot of excursions in my life and they are the real deal.
We went on the isle of palms kayak expedition with Dallas. We absolutely LOVED it, especially because of Dallas. So glad we had him as a guide, without him i'd likely be stuck in the weeds still figuring my left from right. Or capsizing. Or both!
This is one of those things you just have to do when you're in the area. I cannot stress enough what great people they are, here at C.E. They were extremely accommodating when we arrived fresh off the train from NYC with all our bags, wearing the wrong clothes for kayaking. And even though neither of us had ever kayaked before, the guide (Kevin I believe) really made it an excellent experience. Our group left early in the morning and was comprised of about six adults, ages ranging from 20 to 75. On a three-hour tour of the Shem Creek and a bit of the bay, nobody ever fell behind or felt exhausted. The pace was just right, and it was a relaxing and beautiful experience.
I'll include several pictures since other reviewers' pictures really helped me in choosing this place. Thanks for the great memories, Coastal Expeditions!
Very much recommended, if i could give these guys 10 stars out of 5, i would!
