Be very careful and wary about this church's new prayer ministry, the woman leading it, and the women who are chosen to lead prayer appointments.
None of the women involved are licensed counselors with any training or experience. Many of them do not even have respected college degrees or any ambitions to admire and follow. If you were to get counseling, they won't have a clue as to what your issues are or how to help you; they just presume to have some authority to do so. You will be gossiped about behind your back. You will be emotionally pressured (manipulated) to fill out personal and invasive forms, because they want to keep them on file against your will/permission or even necessity to "pray over" continuously. It is a pie-in-the-sky ministry on their own terms forced upon people. They expect you to share everything with them with a sense of the local self-entitlement.
Get to know the women and behind closed doors, you will see that they TALK and GOSSIP about each other and when they get you alone ("So-and-so needs medication and I told her so"/Are you divorced like me? My husband cheated on me."/Southern belle air-headed talk about boobjobs and plastic surgery" etc., etc...]), so whatever you reveal to them privately and in prayer, they will talk carelessly about. The Scripture is very clear not to do this. This speaks to a very sick and unhealthy environment and of one that keeps women emotionally codependent on already unhealthy individuals, which they are neglecting about themselves. This also speaks to persistent sin that allows evil to come in and work. Be sure that witchcraft and spiritual manipulation is practiced at this church and that Satan already has a place here. The pastor shows no concern for this.
It is important to know that the first love of St. Peter's is actually MONEY, REAL ESTATE, and SALES. It is even used in their language and techniques. Please consider all of your resources elsewhere and the work of the Holy Spirit in ministries He has originally instigated, and ministries and churches that are living biblically both to your face and behind closed doors.
This is a Great church for newcomers...
The Alpha Course really jump-starts both. (Turns out I knew NOTHING about Jesus and God from my childhood church days.)
Diverse membership...families with young children, to teens, on up thru "seniors". A good mix of married and singles at all age levels. A very "Alive" membership.
You will not find respect for the Bible or the true Gospel in this prayer ministry. It is a local knock-off of Christian Healing Ministries based in Florida, which they freely admit that they are imitating. There are already so many local, inspired, and original ministries here in Charleston. You will be treated to elementary school-level spirituality in prayers from a sheet of paper or from a book for you to spout out, but NOT the Holy Bible and NOT anything taking into consideration your own spiritual growth and needs. You will be meeting with old women late in their lives who are desperate to get this ministry off the ground and claw anyone in, and they use illegitimate means because there is no legitimacy. Get into actual "community" with St. Peter's and you will find what the women do in their relationships. All of this can be seen during times spent outside of the church (meeting for coffee/going out to dinner/riding in the car, etc.).
This is a Meaningful church. And a genuinely caring group of people. And it is a FUN church. And by "church" I mean the people. The Pastors, the staff, and the members.
Warm and welcoming people here!
It is a friendly place where you can connect with others and the teaching is fantastic, as well as the music.
St Peter's is a church Community and Family that seeks to include whoever wishes to come, and to serve the needs of those in the surrounding community and in the world, as God makes them aware of those needs.
...and "non-christians" who want to explore what a relationship with Jesus might be about. This was me 2 years ago.
Be very wary in particlar of the primary woman who leads this ministry and organizes prayer appointments, especially in her methodology and example, whatever you communicate to her over the phone or in the forms she gives you. She is probably divorced/cheated on and embittered about something in her marriage, like many of the women there and the things they talk about and treat anyone new as competition/gossip fodder instead of actually getting help. Like a sales pitch, you will be pestered nonstop to fill out forms for personal information and without an honest/upfront explanation of her intentions = deception. You will be pestered in total disregard to your own free will and the life you lead the rest of the week before Christ and your own personal business. Again, she has no respectable training or even any common courtesy and manners, and has no qualms with encroaching upon/intruding into your life outside church. This can also happen in unwanted text messages.
This place does not have its identity rooted in rituals, rules and doctrine. - But on supporting people in developing and having a genuine heart-connection with The Lord through Experience of Him.
